Nupur Parekh Flynn is the founding owner and CEO of NUPUR LLC and inventor of BAGCEIT®. She was born in Washington, DC and raised by two incredible parents who emigrated from India before she was born. The family eventually settled in Baltimore, Maryland when Nupur was three years old.

Nupur’s parents imparted many pearls of wisdom to her and her sister Payal over the years – find your passion; give to causes that fulfill the inner you; be flexible and open to change, challenges, and new opportunities; and know that failure and success are co-equal partners to your personal and professional growth. Life is rarely linear irrespective of our plans, so have fun and embrace the journey!

The girls were raised as global citizens and open-minded individuals, not just Indian and/or American. Nupur was mesmerized by the world after her parents put her on the plane to India, alone, at the age of seven to visit relatives. Thereafter, her academic and professional life centered around the global perspective she was so passionate about.

Nupur’s life has never been a straight line nor without major bumps, for which she is grateful. Though raised in a family of entrepreneurs, Nupur never considered this a path for her personally, being more comfortable working within a corporate structure.

But, in 2019, when she retired from the asset management business after fourteen years, something changed for her.

Roots of BAGCEIT®

That year, Nupur and her husband travelled extensively. While transiting airports, train stations and hotels, whether eating at restaurants, milling about or simply relaxing, she really started to notice the habits of others. She was in observation mode for once – not preoccupied with texting or rushing to respond to an email.

Where did folks put their bags/briefcases in different settings? So much ended up on the floor and those germs ended up as companions everywhere, bringing new friends at every stop. Yuck!  When dining at restaurants, Nupur requested two extra dinner napkins to put on the floor. She placed her handbag on one and her husband’s briefcase on the other. You can imagine how ridiculous this looked and how unhappy the restauranteurs were!

Well, not everything fits on the back of your chair, on your lap, or on the table. So, the question remained: what’s a girl to do? Nupur was sure that someone, somewhere must have finally created a device to solve this problem. A germaphobe herself, she had researched this question many times over the years and found nothing. Surprisingly, her latest research also came up empty.

Nupur decided, as the adage goes, that if you want something done correctly, you must do it yourself!  She decided to take the plunge and create BAGCEIT® (pronounced “bag-seat”) herself.

She now joins the ranks of “entrepreneur,” though it does not roll off her tongue easily. Let’s see where this BAGCEIT® journey takes her – hopefully to places with less germs along the way!

Career Before BAGCEIT®

Prior to founding NUPUR LLC in 2019, Nupur served as managing director, marketing and public relations, at Brown Capital Management; as a political appointee at the U.S. Agency for International Development; and as a marketing executive at the global law firm DLA Piper.

Nupur considers community involvement, personal philanthropy, empathy and charity as core to her human spirit and value system, and is actively involved with various organizations and institutions that she believes improve the lives and well-being of others, including LifeBridge Health, where she serves as a trustee, treasurer of the board and a member of the health system’s governance, nominating, and compensation committees; the Baltimore Museum of Art, where she serves as a trustee; and The United Way, where she serves as a member of the United Way Worldwide US Council on Tocqueville and Million Dollar Roundtable

In May 2021, Nupur was named one of The Maryland Daily Record’s 2021 Top 100 Women, for which she was selected by an outside panel of judges in recognition of her professional achievements, community leadership and mentoring.

Nupur and her husband, Guy, split time between their homes in New York City and Baltimore.
